At Meati Foods, we believe food should be delicious, simple, and sustainable. That’s why we do everything ourselves, from growing our mycelium main ingredient to crafting our nutrient-rich whole cuts.
We start with the spore of mycelium, which has a long heritage of use in food and can be found worldwide.
We then take great care to give it the sustenance it needs — purified Rocky Mountain H20, nutrients typically found in soil, and fuel in the form of sugar. That's it.
After years of research, we discovered the ideal environment for our mycelium to grow and thrive. We now know the right temperature, fuel, and nutrients to help our root grow efficiently.
The Meati "Ranch" was built leveraging similar practices used to make beer and cheese. We grow our animal-free whole food in a “clean environment” which does not require the use of pesticides, growth hormones, or antibiotics, unlike some purveyors of traditional meat. In fact, there are also no cages required, only stainless steel tanks!
“It’s a texture thing...” No, really. Lucky for us all, mycelium is very similar to muscle tissue, making it easy for our culinary team to gently form our main ingredient into any shape, texture and flavor. Like a perfectly blank canvas, we marinate our mycelium with a handful of natural ingredients (spices, herbs, all that) to create the delicious protein and fiber-rich cut you know and love.
Mouthwatering. Incredible texture. Endless possibilities.
